Welcome
Dear colleagues and friends,
Building on its
strong traditions, Europe continues to lead in the area of biological interfaces.Building on its strong traditions, Europe continues to lead in the area of biological interfaces. Supported by ESF, EMBO and FEBS, biological surfaces and interfaces meetings running between 2003 and 2022 have been the voice of the broad biointerface community, the forum for exchange of ideas between scientists active in this area, and a uniquely supportive environment for the training of young interdisciplinary scientists.
With the 2025 meeting, we open the next chapter in this series by focusing on the new aspects of research into biointerfaces: the understanding of the complex interactions at the biointerfaces at the molecular level by introducing cutting-edge techniques, such as machine learning, big data approaches such as hyperspectral microscopy, friction force microscopy, CRISPR-based genetic engineering tools, small angle X-ray scattering, neutron reflectometry, etc.
The course will provide insights into dynamic processes at the interface between lipids, proteins (including enzymes and peptides) and bio- and nanomaterials, also shedding light on how specific electrolytes modulate the interactions among them. Additonally, the design of interfaces which provide dynamic and controlled spatio-temporal stimuli as well as the drug design, by controlling the behaviour of protein-drug, lipid-drug or also protien /enzyme-nanoparoticle interfaces will be presented. The workshop aims at understanding a multidisciplinary area - biological interaces - from a more biophysical point of view, a unique perspective not addressed by any other conference, workshop or course.el by introduccattering, neutron reflectometry, etc. The course will
CSGI fellowship award
CSGI - Italy is funding a Travel Fellowship award, to attend the Advanced Course, dedicated to a Master's student who is carrying out an experimental/computational thesis project in a "Biological Surfaces and Interfaces" related field. Applicants must submit their application consisting of:
- Applicant's CV (pdf file)
- Abstract (poster) for the Advanced Course (pdf file)
by May 11th at info@biointerfaces2025.febsevents.org
The fellowship will cover the full registration fee including full board and accommodation in a shared double room at the Hotel Eden Roc, venue of the Advanced Course.
